real riches

We often measure wealth by what’s left in our bank account at the end of the month, which might leave many of us feeling rather poor. But what if we measured wealth differently? What if we measured wealth by the amount of pleasure we find in simple things? What if we measured wealth by the joy we experience in our relationships? By the meaningfulness we find in our work? By the beauty that surrounds us? By the dreams we still hold onto in our imagination? Or by the depth of contentedness we feel in our hearts?

Money certainly matters in a material world, but true wealth is much bigger than just currency and far more accessible to all of us. May we each find the real riches our abundant God desires for us in the year ahead.
